Our dentist at Apopka Smiles can capture complete views of a patient's upper and lower jaws, teeth, temporomandibular joints and sinuses with Panorex digital imaging technology. A Panorex lets our team take a 360-degree picture of the teeth, head, sinuses and bones in a single image, which helps us identify issues that a standard X-ray cannot.
How a Panorex Works
Getting a Panorex is quick and comfortable. You sit in a chair and rest your chin on a small ledge that is part of the machine. The Panorex then rotates around your head, taking a 360-degree picture as it moves. You simply stay still for a few moments while the image is captured. Nothing is placed inside your mouth, which many patients appreciate, especially those with a strong gag reflex.
Why the Full View Matters
A huge amount of information can be captured when a dentist can see the full structure of the head. Potential problems may be found earlier, so better treatment decisions can be made sooner. The Panorex can also show specific structural problems and infections.
